Grand Canyon Star party June 2022
Taken the night of June 20th at the Grand Canyon Star party. It was taken from about nautical twilight until just after 11pm. 60D f3.5 30 seconds each, tracked. Looking southeast
Shot at Chiricahua Astronomy Complex Saturday evening the 28 of May through Sunday the 29th Looking South. The exposure oar 45 seconds minute each tracked.
This video was taken over the night of March 5th -6th at the Chiricahua Astronomy Complex in Arizona. The night of the annual Messier Marathon. The camera pointing SE with a FOV of around 65 degrees. Each frame was 60 seconds tracked as to minimize star trailing. Then later dark frames were subtracted to reduce noise. Then all were combined at 20 fps to make this video. Towards the morning you can see Venus rising along with the Milky way.
This video was taken over the night of March 4th -5th at the Chiricahua Astronomy Complex in Arizona. The camera pointing SE with a FOV of around 65 degrees. Towards the morning you can see Venus rising and an appearance of the HST passing near the Scutum star cloud. And M11. For some reason Youtube want to play them back at a much faster rate so click the “Setting” button, bottom near the rights side and select a slower rate if desired.
Video taken at Chiricahua Astronomy Complex the night of January 30-31st 2022. The flashing during the video is a result of people using dim red flashlights. Evidence of a really dark site. SQM reading of between 21.50 to 21.83. Take with Canon 60d shooting JPEG to allow enough room for on camera storage. each nighttime exposure is 60 seconds. Tracking by using a Sky Adventure mount.

Had a visitor join me. Taken with my phone from one of the pads where I generally setup at CAC. At first, I thought it was a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake. One of the more venomous snakes in the US. Then someone with more experience with rattlesnakes, identified it as a Mojave. The deadliest of all US snakes. Seems its venom is of Neurotoxic, like adapids and contains Hemotoxic components like regular rattlesnakes. All this coupled with large retractable fangs. Best of both worlds. Our director had an encounter with a similar looking snake about 15 minutes earlier. We believe this to be the same snake. The fortunate thing for me was as he approached the pad; he crawled over a wheel stop and his rattles made the distinctive “Chic-Chic”. Giving his approach away. He did end up under my telescope. Thanks to Chris, we were able to evict him to a safer place for both of us.
